Join us for Loyola鈥檚 first annual EcoExpo, a two-day gathering to celebrate the earth and our shared future through sustainable practices, art, activism, and community-building. All are invited to attend!
We are proud to welcome as our keynote speaker Shamyra Lavigne-Davey, a third-generation human rights activist and lifelong resident of St. James Parish, a frontline community in Louisiana鈥檚 鈥淐ancer Alley,鈥 where petrochemical pollution has caused devastating health impacts and some of the highest cancer rates in the country. As a leader with Rise St. James, a faith-based grassroots organization fighting for environmental justice, Shamyra has gained national recognition for her bold fight against environmental racism and toxic industry. Her voice is powerful, her story urgent, and her presence at EcoExpo is a call to action.
Alongside her mother, Sharon Lavigne, named one of TIME鈥檚 100 most influential people, Shamyra has become a global voice for environmental justice, carrying the struggles and hopes of frontline communities to the world stage.
