Environment Program Newsletter: Volunteer Team Needed
Volunteers Team Needed
We are seeking to build a team of Environment majors to develop and conduct a Citizen Science Bat Monitoring Program across the Greater New Orleans region (extending to 7 SE Louisiana parishes). There are multiple roles that need to be filled (see below) that span many aspects of building a community-environmental science collaborative program (a network really) with community partners that include K-12 schools, NGO environmental and community organizations, and city, state, and federal agencies, as well as public and private organizations (e.g., Nature Centers, City and State Parks, National Parks and National Wildlife Refuges, Educational outreach and Community organizations, etc...).聽Capstone experiences聽or other academic credits can be planned in exchange for work on this project.
- Team members to participate in and learn organizational management of citizen science programs for their career development
- Team members to attend to deploying, maintaining, servicing bat monitoring stations and analyzing all the bat activity data collected
- Team members to develop and conduct citizen science projects (not informal environmental education)
- Team members to develop, produce and carry-out informal education programs to K-12 and general public
