Magis Moment: April 2022
A Message from the Vice President of University Advancement
I've been telling people over the past few weeks that I've never had a busier time in my years working at Loyola. Loyola advancement staff people and volunteers have jumped right back in to where we were before the pandemic with a flurry of activities and (most importantly) a LONG list of outcomes that benefit Loyola's students and the wider community. More than 800 people gave more than $325,000 on Loyola Loyal Day. Those gifts will go to a wide array of campus initiatives.
Amidst all the business and busy-ness, one quieter moment stands out for me. In accepting Loyola's Integritas Vitae Award at our 1912 Society Dinner on March 24, Dooky Chase began his acceptance remarks in a heartfelt and perhaps conventional way, recognizing his family and Loyola. However, by the end of what started as Dooky'sÌýspeech, we in the audience of over a hundred people realized that Dooky had gradually lured us into praying with him in thanks to God. Dooky had put his years of Jesuit education to full use--turning a special moment for him into a moment to subtly and gradually turn everyone's attention away from him and toward the Source of all goodness.
I can't think of a better way to move from an extraordinary time of activity and success for Loyola to Holy Week, Passover, and the Resurrection we celebrate at Easter. May April bring you moments of gratitude like we shared with the Chase family in March.
