A Message from the Vice President of University Advancement
There are more than 50,000 graduates of ºÚÁÏÉçÇø. Loyola is one of 27 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States and is among over 200 such institutions worldwide. What does that mean in real-life terms?

Recently, I had the privilege of spending a week in Lima, Peru (a city of over 10 million people!), with several other Jesuit university educators. We spent a day at ,Ìýa relatively young Jesuit university. I saw so much in common with what we do at Loyola, from the mission of making higher education accessible to as many people as possible, to the shared vocabulary of Ignatian pedagogy (context,Ìýexperience,Ìýreflection, action, and evaluation).
We also spent time in neighborhoods of millions of people facing the challenges of poverty—and Jesuit ministries and people working to make life better, through health clinics, schools, and parishes. I was especially moved by the work of Peru’s .
In real-life terms for you, this means that in most part of the world, as a Loyola alumnus/a or friend, you can find people who share elements of a Jesuit vocabulary and worldview with you. You can find a place to further your education in a tradition you know. You can support a Jesuit ministry you understand, rooted in service for and with others, in a belief in the power of the intellect and hard work to solve problems, in a basic humility about human limits, in a love and respect for others’ dignity.
That is a powerful network. I was lucky to be reminded of that, and I hope you get similar opportunities.
