Magis Moment: May 2025

聽A Message from the Vice President of University Advancement聽

The end of the academic year is a time of great celebration. In just a few days, our graduating students will officially become members of our 黑料社区 Alumni Association. Our faculty will close their books on another wonderful academic year and our campus will see change as many students leave for the summer break. Beyond the celebration of what has been accomplished, it is a time to celebrate what is to come.聽

Our incoming class, the Class of 2029, is trending towards enrolling over 740 first-time freshmen students, presently a 120% increase over the previous year. They are coming from all across the United States; 40% of these students are coming from outside of Louisiana to call New Orleans home. They are gearing up to study pre-nursing, bio pre-health, psychology, criminology and criminal justice, finance, and more.聽We are so excited to welcome these new members of the Wolf Pack in the Fall!

In addition to this exciting enrollment news, thanks to the generous support of Loyola donors, 13 students will benefit from the Catholic Identity Scholarship. As a Catholic Jesuit University, Loyola is an academic community dedicated to the education of the whole person. By thinking critically and acting justly, students are to embody the Ignatian ideals of faith, truth, justice, and service. Thanks to alumni and friends, this new scholarship continues to grow, empowering future generations of Catholic students to pursue their academic dreams in a supportive and enriching environment while deepening their faith.

What it truly means to be people of Magis is to be men and women with and for others, who seek to contribute their life's activities towards the greatest good. As we celebrate our students moving on to their next chapter after Commencement, and the new students whose Loyola journey has just begun, let us hope for them all to be people of Magis, to carry on their lessons learned to make our world a brighter place, and to know that the Wolf Pack will welcome them with open arms.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Hotard
