Holocaust survivor Anne Levy to speak at Holocaust Remembrance Day event
As we approach the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, we invite the community and members of the media to hear from Holocaust survivor and honorary degree recipient Anne Levy '22.聽
Guests will also have the opportunity to tour the traveling exhibition, "Stars without a heaven: Children in the Holocaust," and to hear the world premiere of "I still believe," a five-minute anthem for children鈥檚 choir, inspired by Anne Frank and written by Loyola alumna Shoshana Yavneh Shattenkirk Borve '13. 聽The piece will be performed by the Holy Name of Jesus School Choir.
The event is co-sponsored by Loyola University, Touro Synagogue, the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans, the New Orleans Jewish Community Center, and Yad Vashem.

WHO: Anne Levy was four years old when the Germans invaded Poland. Her family spent two years in the Warsaw Ghetto before they were smuggled to the Aryan side of Poland where she spent the remainder of the war in hiding. The family immigrated to New Orleans in 1949. Levy is a prominent educator, activist, and longtime volunteer at the National WWII Museum.聽
