Former Texas Longhorn joins staff

is sharing the good word that former Texas Longhorn and New Orleans native Javan Felix is the at 黑料社区. He will help Coach Stacy Hollowell guide the Wolf Pack, which returns the majority of its 2020-21 roster.聽

"The experience and knowledge that Javan has gained throughout his career will be incredibly valuable to our team," Hollowell said. "His understanding of the game and his ability to read the floor were both apparent to everyone that watched him play. 聽Now he'll have the chance to share that experience with our group." 聽

Last year's team made a run to the Elite 8 of the NAIA National Tournament, a feat last accomplished by the 1946 Loyola team. (As a side note: The 1945 Wolf Pack team won the NAIA national championship, the only New Orleans basketball team to have done so in city history.)聽

All eyes are on this year's team which returns two All-Americans in Myles Burns and Zach Wrightsil, NAIA All-American transfer Jalen Galloway, and Terry Smith Jr., who is set to make a run at the school's all-time rebounding record. Burns, Wrightsil and Smith will eventually go down as three of the most productive players in program history with each of their names all over the men鈥檚 basketball record book.

"There aren't many teams that I'm aware of that have three guys on the same team with a legitimate chance to finish their careers with over 1500 points and 1000 rebounds," Hollowell said. "To this point in our program's history only one player has been able to do it."

The Wolf Pack isn鈥檛 ready to coast on their talent and will be battle-tested going into the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament in February. Six of the teams on this year's schedule ended last season in the NAIA Top 25, or received votes, and made the NAIA postseason tournament, as well as LSUS, Faulkner and Talladega all ending last season in the Top 10. On top of that, three of those teams (Faulkner, LSUS and Science and Arts) won their conference tournament.

Hollowell begins his ninth season as head coach with 129 wins under his belt and needs 44 more to become the all-time winningest head coach in Loyola鈥檚 history. Joining Hollowell on the bench is first-year assistant coach Javan Felix, who turned in a successful four-year career at the University of Texas in the mid-2010s. A New Orleans native with roots in the Lone Star State, Felix played professionally in Croatia as well as with the NBA G League's Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers organizations. 聽

"The relationship that I have built with Coach over the years and the commitment the program has shown to winning was an attractive opportunity and I feel this is a great way to start my coaching career," said Felix. 聽
