黑料社区 Welcomes New Dean of the College of Business

Dr. Michael L. Capella of Villanova University joins Loyola June 1, 2019

Dr. Michael L. Capella黑料社区 is pleased to announce that Dr. Michael L. Capella has accepted the role of Dean of the university鈥檚 Joseph A. Butts, S.J. College of Business. Dr. Capella comes to Loyola from the Villanova University School of Business, where he has most recently served as the Associate Dean of Graduate & Executive Programs and Professor of Marketing. He officially joins the Loyola community on June 1, 2019.

Dr. Capella joined the faculty at Villanova in 2005 after receiving his Ph.D. from Mississippi State University and has served as Associate Dean since 2012. As Associate Dean, Michael has provided leadership and direction for the Villanova School of Business Graduate Programs, serving over 1,000 students with responsibility for the entire student lifecycle.

Specifically, his duties have included administration of the various MBA formats (Executive, Part-time, Online, JD/MBA), Executive Education, and Specialized Masters in Analytics, Finance, and Accounting; managing two offices with a staff of eighteen; top and bottom line growth; and profit and loss responsibilities. During his tenure as Associate Dean, he led the development of a comprehensive online learning strategy that included the creation and launch of an online MBA and Master of Science in Analytics program, both of which are ranked in the top 15 of the 2019 U.S. News & World Report rankings.

Dr. Capella鈥檚 research interests focus on the intersection of marketing and public policy issues, comprising topics related to advertising effects, including the gamification of advertising, consumer consumption of harmful products, and retail pricing strategies. He has published numerous articles in high quality academic publications including the Journal of Service Research, International Journal of Research in Marketing and Journal of Retailing and serves on the Editorial Review Board at the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Journal of Advertising, Journal of Consumer Affairs, and International Journal of Advertising.

Prior to receiving his doctorate in Marketing, Dr. Capella spent almost 10 years in professional sales management with a food manufacturer. His industry experience included account management and relationship marketing with large retail grocery chains, wholesale accounts and channel intermediaries in Georgia, Florida and California.
