(New Orleans, La. – March 30, 2021) �������� College of Law specialty programs shine in new rankings released today by U.S. News and World Report. The 2022 U.S. News Best Graduate Schools rankings, released today, can be found online. The College of Law is named one of the nation’s Best Law Schools and a number of its specialty programs are ranked among the nation’s best.

“We are exceedingly proud of our Law specialty programs built on the hallmarks of a Jesuit education, including a commitment to justice, ethical decision-making and commitment to excellence,” said University President Tania Tetlow. “That our peers at some of the nation’s finest institution have ranked our programs in equally high esteem is extremely gratifying.”

Rankings are compiled from expert opinions about program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school’s faculty, research and students. Data for the rankings comes from statistical surveys of more than 2,081 programs and reputation surveys sent to more than 24,000 academics and professionals, conducted in fall 2020 and early 2021.

“�������� Law faculty and students are simply outstanding,” said College of Law Dean Madeleine M. Landrieu, J.D. ‘87 H ‘05. “We are extremely proud of the legal education we provide. Loyola is a special place.”

The law school’s clinical training program ranked No. 32 in the nation, in the top 17 percent. Up seven spots since last year, the clinical training program, which trains students for professional practice, tied with similar programs at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, Texas A&M, Howard, Tulane, University of Minnesota, University of Pennsylvania, University of Washington.

Loyola’s part-time law program, ranked No. 38 in the nation, tied with University of Arkansas – Little Rock and University of the Pacific McGeorge. Its environmental law program ranks 48th in the nation, landing in the top 26 percent and tied with similar programs at Emory, Seattle University, University of Miami, Notre Dame, University of Pennsylvania, University of Wyoming, Wake Forest, and Washington University in St. Louis.

The Legal Research and Writing program ranks No. 61, placing it in top 34 percent, tied with Cornell, American Univ., Syracuse, Memphis, Seton Hall, and Univ of New Hampshire. Loyola’s Research and Writing Program is ranked top in Louisiana, with Tulane ranked No. 80, LSU ranked No. 154, and Southern not listed.

The law school’s dispute resolution program ranks No. 63, up 15 spots since last year and tied with similar programs at American University, Boston University, Hofstra University, Illinois Institute of Technology, NYU, Northeastern University, Pace University, Temple University, Touro College, University of Chicago, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, U of St. Thomas, Willamette University College of Law.)

Its trial advocacy program ranks No. 79, falls in the top 44 percent of programs, tied with similar programs at California Western School of Law, Creighton University, Drake, Elon, Florida International University, New York Law School, Texas Tech, University of Chicago, University of Colorado-Boulder and University of Nevada – Las Vegas.
