Loyola Men’s Basketball to be Honored by New Orleans City Council
(New Orleans – March 31, 2022) New Orleans City Council President Helena Moreno has invited the Men’s Basketball team to be honored Monday by the Council.
“It's an honor for our team to be recognized by the New Orleans City Council,” said Coach Stacy Hollowell. "This team's ability to fight through adversity and overcome obstacles reflects the resilience of our great city.”
The Loyola Wolf Pack Men’s Basketball team , as they won the 2022 NAIA National Championship. Loyola is the only university in the city with a men’s basketball team that has won a national championship – and now the team has won two. Loyola Men’s Basketball team also won a national championship in 1945.
The team, coaches, and staff will be recognized during the “Order of Business” component of the regular 10 a.m. meeting on Monday, April 7. This regular section of the agenda allows Council members to highlight huge achievements or other noteworthy events in the community while the meeting is broadcast.
Loyola Director of Athletics Brett Simpson, Coach Stacy Hollowell, assistant head coach and former Texas Longhorn Javan Felix, NAIA All-American players Zach Wrightsil, Myles Burns, Brandon Davis, and other members of the team will be present. Simpson and Hollowell will share the Wolf Pack story, including the team’s path to the Championship, a record-breaking season, players, and other highlights.
The Wolf Pack will also take a “team photo” with Moreno and the Council.
