(NEW ORLEANS – November 15, 2021) �������� voice students shined in a recent regional competition hosted by the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the largest organization of teachers of singing in the world.��

All of the students who participated in the juried contest, held November 12-13 at the University of Southern Mississippi, are vocal performance majors in Loyola’s critically acclaimed 100-year-old College of Music and Media, where every singer works one-on-one with renowned voice faculty in weekly private lessons leading up to a junior and senior recital.

��The students study voice, piano, music history, theory, performance practice, acting, opera and languages along with their Loyola Core curriculum, as they prepare for their degrees. ��An essential part of their professional training is preparing for performances. The rigorous process helps them to develop poise and critical performance skills, along with their voices.

“From the moment they arrive at Loyola, our vocal performance majors are trained as working professionals,” said Tyler Smith, chair of Vocal Performance. ��“Rehearsals, auditions, and competitions are an essential part of their development.”
